FutureGen seek to buy parts of unused plant to continue work
Ameren Corp. is in talks to sell parts of its Meredosia power plant to a group of coal-mining companies and utilities seeking to build a $1.65 billion project to capture and store carbon-dioxide emissions. The FutureGen Industrial Alliance Inc. is in talks to buy “portions”' of the Illinois power plant, which will be altered to allow for the capture of carbon emissions, according to a statement from the group Nov. 28. Ameren, based in St. Louis, will not continue with the project after this year, according to the statement.
