Renewables financing problem must be addressed: Ferguson
Federal energy minister Martin Ferguson has said a meeting of 22 energy ministers from around the world – the third Clean Energy Ministerial meeting – highlighted the necessity of the carbon price as we head toward a renewable energy future. Participating governments at last week’s summit account for 80 per cent of global greenhouse gas emissions and 90 per cent of global clean energy investment. “The Clean Energy Ministerial has underscored the challenges and opportunities we face in increasing the development and uptake of renewable energy," Minister Ferguson said. "I had the opportunity to participate in two wide ranging roundtable discussions on financing renewable energy and on accelerating the development of carbon capture use and storage technology.
