Membership of the Global CCS Institute
The Global CCS Institute was incorporated in 12 June 2009, and Membership is available to Foundation Members and any other governments, corporations or organisations who can demonstrate a legitimate interest in the advancement of CCS, including:
- a commitment to accelerating the global adoption of safe, commercial and environmentally sustainable CCS, including through the delivery of a diverse portfolio of at least 20 fully integrated, industrial-scale demonstration projects operating by 2020 and the overcoming of barriers to broad industrial-scale deployment; and
- the ability to carry on a business or activity where the advancement of CCS is not merely incidental to its core business or activities.

What is the cost to become a Member?
There is no application fee to join the Global CCS Institute. However, there is a small contingent liability fee associated with Membership.
To be admitted as a Member, applicants will have to commit to paying AUD$10 in the event that the Global CCS Institute is wound up and does not have adequate funds to discharge its liabilities. This fee can be met through:
- The Member guaranteeing that they will pay AUD$10 if the Global CCS Institute is wound up and has insufficient funds; or
- The Member agreeing to pay the amount of AUD$10 when they have been approved for Membership, on the basis it be held in trust by the Global CCS Institute until such time as the Global CCS Institute is wound up.
