Health and Safety for Transport in the Identify phase

Objective

The objective of this activity is to:

  • Undertake a high level review of the health and safety implications imposed by the potential:
    • Route scenarios (both onshore and offshore)
    • Transport pipeline design
    • Transport pipeline operating pressure requirements
    • Likely offshore regulations and injection requirements.

Major Deliverables

The major deliverables under this stage are:

  • A High Level Review Document of HSE Implications

Tasks

The high level review document of HSE implications should provide details of the review activities undertaken at this stage, and highlight HSE implications associated with onshore and offshore transport pipelines (and other potential transportation modes) taking into account existing and future operational conditions.  Therefore, as a minimum the specific tasks are to:

  • Identify potential onshore and offshore pipeline route scenarios and develop an initial high level assessment of potential HSE constraints to these routes;
  • Identify major HSE issues associated with transport pipeline design and material selection;
  • Identify the HSE implications associated with likely operating pressure requirements and the physical phases of CO2 intended;
  • Identify any other likely potential transportation modes;
  • Undertake a high level HSE review of potential regulatory aspects associated with onshore pipelines and associated equipment;
  • Undertake a high level HSE review of potential regulatory aspects associated with offshore pipelines and associated equipment, offshore structures and injection requirements; and
  • Undertake a high level HSE review of potential regulatory aspects associated with other potential transportation modes.

Examples

Key Personnel

  • Project Manager
  • Health and Safety Manager
  • Project Engineers (‘Supervisors’) including offshore experts if necessary
