Val Verde Natural Gas Plants

Technical aspects

1.3 million tonnes per annum of carbon dioxide (CO₂) is re-used in this project.
CO₂ is captured from five gas processing facilities including Mitchell, Gray Ranch, Puckett, Pikes Peak and Terrell.
Once captured, dehydrated and compressed, the CO₂ is transported via the Val Verde and CRC pipelines to the Sharon Ridge oil field for enhanced oil recovery (EOR). Secondary sinks for the CO₂ are the SACROC, Cogdell and Reinecke floods.

Key deliverables

Reportedly, enhanced oil recovery at these fields commenced as early as 1972.

Project data is current as at 15 Jan 2013. This data is currently reviewed and updated quarterly.
