5 Chain components

The chain for CO2 collection, transport and storage as defined under the LLSC consists of several components between capture flange at the different emitter locations up to the wellhead of the selected storage sites. Although the scope of the concept is limited to the transport of CO2, upstream and downstream sections largely determine the most optimum transportation concept. The carbon dioxide streams from the emitters are the starting point of the study. The sources of CO2 can be a variety of industrial applications. Different source types mean different conditions and compositions. Also different sinks require different injection conditions or even different compositions with regards to impurities.

In this chapter the different identified chain components are described as part of the LLSC. The different components are discussed based on requirements, technologies available and considerations for chain component selection resulting in an optimum in the design based on the presented design case.
