Who we are
A philanthropic foundation that funds CCS programs with potential for breakthrough impact.
Formed in 2022, the Global Carbon Management Foundation seeks to harness philanthropic funding to support programs that will advance CCS as an integral part of the net-zero emissions future. We are the world’s first and only foundation focused exclusively on the advancement of CCS.
How we work
We have extensive and deep relationships with the foremost CCS experts worldwide. Our approach is centered around partnering with organizations and experts with deep content knowledge, bringing together an optimal team to develop breakthrough solutions. While independent, the Foundation has a close affiliation with the Global CCS Institute and intends to leverage its world-class research, advocacy, and technical capabilities to advance the Foundation’s mission.
What we do
Providing grants to CCS projects with high impact:
Focus on issues that are critical paths for CCS deployment.
This work includes enabling policies and regulations in key nations, making CCS financeable, improving availability and understanding of data & analyses, and conceptual design in hard-to-abate sectors, transport, and countries and industries with high emissions.
Focus on geographies that are important to CCS but require foundational support to build capacity.
These geographies include, but are not limited to, China, Southeast Asia, the Middle East, Africa, and India.
Incorporate climate justice and environmental justice into funding.
Programs will address the needs and priorities of communities and regions that are most vulnerable to climate change’s environmental, social, and economic impacts and the effects of industrial activity on local air and water quality.
Create breakthrough impact.
Programs will include activities in hard-to-abate sectors such as cement, steel, pulp and paper, and projects in which think tanks and/or NGOs collaborate with key global industry organizations and/or research organizations with complementary skill sets.
