GCEAF – CCUS, ESG, and Just Transition in Hard-to-Abate Sectors
23rd September 2022
Location(s): Pittsburgh
ABOUT
The Global CCS Institute will be hosting an official side event on CCUS, ESG, and Just Transition in Hard-to-Abate Sectors, which will be held on Friday, September 23rd during the Global Clean Energy Action Forum (GCEAF) in Pittsburgh, PA. This session explores why frontline communities’ involvement must be front and center for reaching net-zero within the required timeframe to mitigate and adapt to the impacts of climate change. Through the lenses of environmental, social, and governance (ESG) principles participants from the financial sector, scientists, engineers, labor, NGOs, policymakers, youth, and frontline communities delve into three important questions.
1. Where are we now in engaging frontline communities on the deployment carbon abatement technologies?
2. Where do we need to be to ensure diversity, equity, justice and inclusivity?
3. How do we close the gap of where we are now and to where we need to be to ensure an energy transition to a net-zero economy and society where there are not stranded individuals or communities?
