GCEAF – Accelerating CCUS Deployment: Finance, Policy, and Innovation Outside the OECD

ABOUT

The Global CCS Institute will be co-hosting an official side event on Accelerating CCUS Deployment: Finance, Policy, and Innovation outside the OECD in partnership with IEAGHG, the Clean Energy Ministerial CCUS Initiative, and Clean Air Task Force.

The event will be held on Thursday, September 22nd during the Global Clean Energy Action Forum (GCEAF) in Pittsburgh, PA.

This session will discuss the critical practical steps to materially accelerate CCUS deployment in emerging economies. After a brief introductory talk on the need to deploy CCUS outside OECD countries, an expert panel will explore key questions and issues in this regard such as:

  • Where some emerging economies currently stand with CCUS
  • The general role(s) that MDBs can play in helping countries drive CCUS, and their experience to date
  • Current MDB trust funds and the need to replenish them
  • Key challenges that need to be tackled and where CEM, MI, CATF, IEAGHG, GCCSI etc. can be helpful The panel will conclude on practical 5-7 next steps and recommendations for the global clean energy community to facilitate CCUS in emerging economies.
