The Global CCS Institute and the Clean Energy Ministerial CCUS Initiative have joined to co-host a side event on Financing CCUS: What Will Make It Interesting for Banks? The event will be held on Thursday, September 22nd during the Global Clean Energy Action Forum (GCEAF) in Pittsburgh, PA.
This moderated panel discussion will bring finance-sector views to the CEM audience, regarding the financing of CCUS projects and the appetite for banks to be involved in CCUS investment. The panel offers a great line-up of clean energy finance specialists from various private finance sector organisations.
The discussion will center around the following main themes:
- Is CCUS finance different from other decarbonisation financing? If so, why?
- What are some of the key impediments that hinder finance sector players from being involved?
- What are the key elements and practical ways forward that will make CCUS attractive for banks?
- Can ESG play a role with regards to CCUS financing?
- What is the role of voluntary and compliance carbon markets?
