Join us on 19 September for this webinar on onshore CO2 storage development in Europe.
There is continued momentum across Europe regarding carbon capture and storage (CCS) as a key climate technology. While offshore CO2 storage has been instrumental in supporting CCS project development in Europe, onshore storage options will be critical to driving CCS and climate ambitions. Several countries have noted the importance of onshore CO2 storage, including Denmark, which has recently awarded three onshore exploration licenses. Development of onshore CO2 storage sites could also facilitate access to CCS for inland emission sources, including small emitters, and may reduce the overall cost of CCS as the CO2 transport component would be lower.
For many European countries, availability of onshore storage will be key in the successful deployment of CCS. Hosted by the Global CCS Institute, this webinar will examine the supportive regulatory frameworks and policies enabling onshore storage development in Denmark, and assess the particulars of the projects and exploration efforts underway in the country. This event will also further unpack the potential future state of onshore CO2 storage in Europe more broadly.
