With Malaysia and Indonesia announcing that carbon capture and storage will play a role in decarbonising their respective industrial sectors, the two are the first countries to enter the CCS market in Southeast Asia. In Indonesia, BP will turn to CCS to decarbonise its liquefied natural gas operations in West Papua province, and Repsol is adopting CCS in an effort to mitigate over 2 million tonnes of CO2 from their operations in Sakakemang, South Sumantra. In Malaysia, government-owned energy enterprise, Petronas, is forging ahead with its inaugural CCS project to tackle emissions in the natural gas sector. Join us as we discuss the impacts these projects will have on CCS progress in the Southeast Asian region as a whole.
