Australian Federal Government Signs Energy and Emissions Reduction Agreement with South Australia

The Australian Federal Government and the South Australian Government have signed a $1.08 billion State Energy and Emissions Reduction Deal. The aim of the agreement is to deliver affordable, reliable power to South Australia, unlock gas supplies, kick-start works on a new interconnector between South Australia and New South Wales, and invest in key emissions reduction projects.

The deal focuses on gas production targets, an electricity interconnector between SA and NSW and concessional finance for storage projects.

Of interest to the CCS community is the $400 million to be made available for priority areas, including carbon capture and storage, hydrogen and other emissions reduction projects in South Australia.
