CCUS Deployment Vital to Reaching Global Climate Targets, IEA Report Finds

24th September 2020

In a new report released by the International Energy Agency (IEA), findings show that net zero climate targets will be near impossible to reach without rapid industrial decarbonisation by carbon, capture, utilization and storage (CCUS) technology.

The report, titled ‘CCUS in Clean Energy Transitions’, notes that while momentum is growing, successful deployment of CCS will be strongly linked to government action and the scale up of reliable infrastructure that supports the transport and storage of carbon dioxide.

The IEA calls for greater public and private CCUS investment, along with international co-operation to deploy the technology if net zero climate targets are to be met.

The full report can be found here.
