In February 2015, the US Department of Energy (DOE) announced that federal funding of the FutureGen 2.0 Project will be suspended.

US Senator Joe Manchin, former House Leader Richard Gephardt, and DOE Assistant Secretary for Fossil Energy Christopher Smith headlined a roster of expert speakers and panellists at the Institute’s Fourth Annual Americas Forum: Call to Action on CCUS Policy and Deployment, held 5 February 2015 at the Embassy of Canada in Washington, DC.

On 4 February 2014, the US Department of Energy (DOE) and Shell Canada announced their intention to collaborate in field tests to advance monitoring, verification, and accounting technologies (MVA) at Shell’s Quest Carbon Capture and Storage project in Alberta, Canada.
