CarbFix Project

The CarbFix project, located in Iceland, includes injection of pure CO2 and a gas mixture of CO2 and H2S, dissolved in water, into basaltic formations, with the purpose of ‘storing’ the gases in mineral in the bedrock. Initial pilot tests in 2012 injected over 200 tons of CO2, which was sourced from the gas mixture from a pilot gas separation station at the Hellisheiði geothermal power plant. A larger scale gas mixture injection program commenced in 2014.

Project data is current as at 27/02/2017
