Advancements in CCS Technologies and Costs
28th February 2025
On 26 February, the Institute hosted a webinar which highlighted insights from our newly released thought leadership report, Advancements in CCS Technologies and Costs, and featured expert perspectives from the report’s three authors.
The session covered key findings on carbon-dioxide capture, compression, pipeline costs, liquefaction, and shipping.
Key Topics Included:
- The role of CCS in achieving global net-zero emissions targets, the current status of CCS deployment worldwide, and the key factors influencing CCS costs
- An in-depth look at capture technologies and associated costs, covering technology pathways, recent advancements, techno-economic analysis, capital and operating costs, cost trends and drivers, as well as strategies for cost reduction.
- An exploration of transport technologies and their costs, including CO₂ compression and pumping, pipeline costs, CO₂ shipping costs, and an analysis of key cost factors.
Speakers:
- David Kearns (Global CCS Institute, Principal Carbon Capture Technologies)
- Shahrzad Shahi (Global CCS Institute, Carbon Capture Technologies Lead)
- Hugh Barlow (Global CCS Institute, Carbon Capture Technologies Lead)
Moderator:
