CO2 sequestration monitoring and verification technologies applied at Krechba, Algeria

This paper provides an overview of the In Salah CO2 storage project. The experimental and demonstration project commenced in 2004. In 2005 a joint industry project was set up to monitor the CO2 storage process using a variety of geochemical, geophysical, and production techniques over an initial five-year period. The authors describe risks and corresponding monitoring technologies including the use of satellite imaging.
