About Us

The Global CCS Institute is an international think tank with a mission to accelerate carbon capture and storage worldwide. Headquartered in Melbourne with offices globally, we work with governments, industry, and civil society to scale CCS through insights, advocacy, and collaboration.

We are an official UNFCCC observer and secretariat of the Carbon Management Challenge, supporting global decarbonisation. Our diverse membership spans the CCS value chain, including governments such as Australia, China, Japan, Saudi Arabia, the UK, and the US – committed to practical, high-impact climate action.

Advocacy

We engage with national governments and global forums – such as the COP and Clean Energy Ministerial – to shape enabling policy and regulatory frameworks for CCS. We advocate for its inclusion in climate strategies as a critical emissions reduction tool.

Expert Advisory

We support CCS readiness by providing expert advice, guidance, and capacity building. Our work helps stakeholders navigate technical, policy, and regulatory challenges in their local context, while fostering partnerships that align with our mission to advance CCS deployment in pursuit of decarbonisation.

Collaboration and Convening

We connect the global CCS community to share knowledge, address barriers, and drive deployment. This includes international forums, regional roundtables, and closed-door dialogues designed to foster coordinated action.
