On July 23, the Institute hosted a focused 30-minute CCS 101 webinar exploring Carbon Contracts for Differences (CCfDs) in Europe and their potential to accelerate the deployment of carbon capture and storage (CCS) technologies.
The session provided attendees with a foundational understanding of how CCfDs function, how they vary across jurisdictions, and how they can offer long-term financial certainty for carbon management projects.
The webinar featured a presentation by the Institute’s Policy and Research Lead, Callum Murfet who is also the author of the recently published perspective “Carbon Contracts for Differences (CCfDs) in Europe.” The presentation covered key aspects of CCfDs, including:
- Eligibility criteria
- Project selection processes
- Cross-chain risk management
- Comparative analysis of CCfD schemes across Europe
Following the presentation, the session included a moderated discussion that delved deeper into the practical implications and policy considerations surrounding CCfDs.
