Institute’s Dr Xiaoliang Yang Explores CCUS Collaboration Between China and GCC Countries in New Energy Transition Book

Dr Xiaoliang Yang has contributed to a new book, China and Gulf Cooperation Council Countries: Partnerships Towards Economic and Energy Transition (Routledge), authoring a chapter on “Challenges and Opportunities in CCUS: Synergizing Efforts in China and GCC Countries” with Abdullah Alkhedhair and Abdullah Alabduly.

The book examines China-GCC relations amid the global energy transition, with a focus on carbon capture, utilisation and storage (CCUS), low-carbon energy, and sustainable investment opportunities. Dr Yang’s chapter highlights how CCUS can strengthen cooperation, support clean energy goals, and deliver shared economic and environmental benefits across China and GCC nations.

This publication is an essential reference for researchers, policymakers, and industry leaders interested in China-GCC energy collaboration, CCUS technologies, and the low-carbon transition.
