Tara is the Institute’s Policy Consultant based near our Washington D.C. office. She is responsible for delivering technical services, as well as offering authoritative insights and analysis for our members and clients to support the Institute’s goal of expanding and accelerating CCS deployment in the US and beyond. Tara’s background in CCS includes being the first to introduce legislative support for engineered CCS in the state of Virginia, her fellowship work through Yale University of providing CCS guidance as visiting fellow at the MacArthur Foundation, and her contract work of providing guidance in CCS stakeholder engagement for the US Department of Energy’s office of Fossil Energy and Carbon Management.

At the University of Virginia, Tara’s graduate studies in atmospheric sciences and energy policy focused on natural and engineered CCS options for achieving net-zero goals. Along with CCS, Tara has experience in net-zero energy policy, emerging clean energy technologies, equitable energy transition, stakeholder engagement, circular carbon economics, and advocacy.
