New funding made available to CCS initiatives via the 2025 CEF-E call for PCIs and PMIs

9th April 2025

On 3 April 2025, the Climate, Infrastructure and Environment Executive Agency (CINEA) announced the launch of a €600 million call for proposals to support key cross-border EU energy infrastructure projects included in the first list of projects of common interest (PCIs) and projects of mutual interest (PMIs). Among the projects eligible for funding under the Connecting Europe Facility for Energy (CEF-E) programme are initiatives in the field of CO2 networks and hydrogen.

Established under the revised TEN-E Regulation, the first list of PCIs and PMIs was adopted by the European Commission as a delegated act on 28 November 2023, and published in the Official Journal of the European Union on 8 April 2024, following the positive endorsement of the European Parliament and the Council of the EU.

The CEF-E programme is among the key enablers at the EU level that are contributing to accelerating the deployment of CCS initiatives in the region. This new funding opportunity made available to CCS projects confirms the EU’s continued efforts to supporting the development of industrial carbon management solutions across Europe.

The recently announced call for proposals will be presented during the CEF Energy info day on 22 May 2025.  Interested project proponents can submit their applications by the 16th of September 2025.
