Teams: Global Research and Analysis

Locations: London

James leads the Global CCS Institute’s communications strategy and delivery, working across the organisation to increase the visibility, reach and impact of the Institute’s research, thought leadership, publications, and events. He works closely with colleagues to translate complex technical and policy issues into clear, engaging communications that support the Institute’s mission to accelerate the deployment of carbon capture and storage globally.

James joined the Institute in August 2026, bringing more than 20 years’ senior communications experience across international organisations spanning mining, energy, financial services, property and the public sector.

Prior to joining the Institute, James held senior communications leadership roles at Rio Tinto, Nationwide Building Society, Unite Group and E.ON. Throughout his career he has advised executive leadership teams on corporate reputation, organisational transformation and crisis communications, with particular experience translating complex technical and strategic issues into communications that build understanding, trust and stakeholder confidence in highly regulated and globally scrutinised environments.

James is a Chartered Public Relations Practitioner (Chart.PR MCIPR). He completed the Oxford Leading Sustainable Corporations Executive Education Programme at Saïd Business School, University of Oxford, and is a guest lecturer in Crisis Communications at Cardiff University.
