Matt re-joined the Institute in March 2026 as a Senior Regional Manager for the Americas region. Based in Washington, DC, he works within the Strategic Advocacy, Growth, and Engagement team and is responsible for developing strategic growth BDE initiatives, working directly with existing Members, policy, thought leadership, and driving sustained growth for the Institute.

In total, Matt has eight years of CCS work experience. He cut his teeth on Capitol Hill working in the office of Rep. Cheri Bustos (17-IL) where he helped write the INVEST CO2 Act which eventually got passed into law in the Infrastructure Investments and Jobs Act (IIJA) of 2021. Following his time on the Hill, Matt did three tours in think tanks and advocacy nonprofits (Third Way, GCCSI, and Clean Air Task Force) where he led CCS policy and advocacy. Most recently, Matt was for three years the Director of External Affairs for CarbonCapture Inc., a direct air capture technology and project development company, where he led government and public affairs.

Matt started his career as an environmental scientist earning his Ph.D. from The Ohio State University and his Bachelor of Science from the University of Maryland.
