Matt re-joined the Institute in March 2026 as a Senior Regional Manager for the Americas region. Based in Washington, DC, he works within the Strategic Advocacy, Growth and Engagement team and is responsible for developing strategic growth BDE initiatives, working directly with existing Members, policy, thought leadership, and driving sustained growth for the Institute.
Matt brings eight years of CCS work experience. He has worked at Capitol Hill where he helped write the INVEST CO2 Act, which eventually got passed into law in the Infrastructure Investments and Jobs Act (IIJA) of 2021. Following his time from Capitol Hill, Matt worked for three tours in think tanks and advocacy nonprofits (Third Way, GCCSI, and Clean Air Task Force) where he led CCS policy and advocacy.
Prior to joining the Institute, Matt was the Director of External Affairs for CarbonCapture Inc., a direct air capture technology and project development company, where he led government and public affairs.
Matt is an Environmental Scientist and holds a Ph.D. from The Ohio State University and a Bachelor of Science from the University of Maryland.
