2023
Global Status Report 2023
With growing interest from the financial sector and investors to include CCS in their sustainable development portfolios and investments we are witnessing the exponential growth of CCS globally. While carbon capture and storage is beginning to scale up, and the CCS project pipeline has reached an unprecedented capacity more work is still urgently needed to achieve gigatonne-scale deployment.
2022
Global Status Report 2022
The momentum behind Carbon capture and storage (CCS) continues to build, with significant progress around the world from countries and companies alike. However, ambition must now translate to urgent, broad, and large-scale action . The report provides detailed analyses of the global project pipeline, international policy, carbon markets, carbon removals, and the evolution of storage. In addition, four regional overviews highlight the rapid development of CCS across North America, Asia Pacific, Europe and the UK, and the MENA region.
2021
Global Status Report 2021
As the world accelerates on the path to net zero, the 2021 Global Status of CCS Report highlights the importance of carbon capture and storage (CCS) technologies and documents the current status and important milestones for the technology this year. The Global Status report remains the preeminent resource for carbon capture and storage around the world. This year’s report includes updates on the number of new facilities added to the project pipeline, emerging CCS trends, regional analysis, and the first ever global overview of CCS networks.
2020
Global Status Report 2020
The Global Status of CCS Report 2020 demonstrates the vital role of carbon capture and storage technologies (CCS) in reducing emissions to net-zero by 2050 as well as documenting the current status and important milestones for the technology over the past 12 months. The report provides detailed information on and analyses of the global CCS facility pipeline, international policy perspectives, CO2 storage and the CCS legal and regulatory environment.
2019
Global Status Report 2019
Summary Report
CCS is an emissions reduction technology critical to meeting global climate targets. The Global Status of CCS 2019 documents important milestones for CCS over the past 12 months, its status across the world and the key opportunities and challenges it faces. We hope this report will be read and used by governments, policy-makers, academics, media commentators and the millions of people who care about our climate.
2018
Global Status Report 2018
Summary Report
The Global Status of CCS Report 2018 documents the status of CCS around the world and significant operational milestones over the past 12 months. It demystifies common misunderstandings about the technology and identifies where and how it can, and must, be more widely deployed. It also tracks the worldwide progress of CCS technologies and the key opportunities and challenges CCS faces.
2017
Global Status Report 2017
Summary Report
- Paris climate change targets cannot be reached without CCS
- CCS is the only clean technology capable of decarbonising major industry (steel, cement, fertiliser, pulp and paper, petrochemicals)
- CCS is the conduit to a new energy economy of hydrogen production, bioenergy and CO2re-use applications
