Carbon Capture and Storage: Funding Climate Technology and Securing a Net-Zero Future – Innovate4Climate (I4C)

26th May 2021
09:30 EDT - 13:30 GMT - 21:30 AEST

Organised by the World Bank Group, Innovate4Climate (I4C) is a free annual event on climate finance, climate investment and climate markets. In partnership with the International Finance Corporation, the Global CCS Institute will deliver a I4C webinar on 26 May 2021 titled Carbon Capture and Storage: Funding Climate Technology and Securing a Net-Zero Future.

Carbon capture and storage (CCS) is a key climate technology proven to significantly reduce emissions from power generation and industry as well as capture CO2 directly from the air. Over 250 million tonnes of CO2 has been captured and stored by CCS facilities to date, and it’s continued deployment is critical if 2050 Paris Agreement climate targets are to be achieved. With 26 CCS projects in operation and a further 39 at various stages of development, the increased adoption of CCS climate action is driven by increased government action, including grants, financial incentives and regulatory policies such as putting a price on carbon.

This webinar will look at the current state of CCS policy and funding support, along with the varied approaches being taken to accelerate the deployment of CCS. Bringing together policy experts from around the world – including experts from the EU Commission, the US Department of Energy, the International Finance Corporation (IFC) and the World Bank – this online event will highlight insights on the instrumental roll-out of CCS in the global effort to mitigate climate change.

An audience Q&A will commence following discussions so please bring along any questions you may have.
