European Commission Launches the Second Call for Projects Under the Innovation Fund

The Global CCS Institute welcomes the Europe Commission’s launch of the second call for projects under the Innovation Fund.
Financed through revenues of the EU Emissions System (EU ETS), the Innovation Fund will see €1.5 billion invested towards low-carbon technologies, including renewable energy, energy storage and carbon capture, use and storage (CCS).
In an effort to reduce application processing timelines, moving forward, the fund will only have a one stage application process. Those seeking funding for projects – which is currently eligible to those in EU Members States, Iceland and Norway – will be able to submit their application until 3rd of March, 2022.
In total the Innovation Fund aims to allocate €25 billion towards low-carbon technologies by 2030.
