Alex joined the Global CCS Institute in 2016 and is accountable for managing the Institute’s media, public affairs, events, communications, publications and project management activities.

The first 12 years of Alex’s career were in the university sector and Government, including 8 years in the Australian Environment Department, the last five years of which as an Assistant Secretary, and focussed on radiation management and safety, nuclear policy and environmental regulation and policy. Alex left the Australian Government to pursue a career in the private sector, moving into a role as Environment Safety and Health Manager at a Rio Tinto uranium mine in 2004. In 2006, Alex was transferred to Rio Tinto Australia’s headquarters where he began working on product stewardship, industry analysis, climate change and CCS.

Alex has a Degree in Applied Science with a major in Physics, a Graduate Diploma in Health & Medical Physics and an MBA.
