Global CCS Institute participates in G20 events in Saudi Arabia

On behalf of the Ministry of Energy and the G20 Saudi Secretariat for the Presidency of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia for the fifteenth meeting of the Group of Twenty (G20), Global CCS Institute General Manager – Commercial, Alex Zapantis, was invited to present at two events this week.

The first, the Circular Carbon Economy Workshop will be held in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, on March 5-6. The workshop will consist of a series of dialogues led by International Organizations examining various mechanisms in the 4Rs elements under the marquee of the “Circular Carbon Economy”, a closed-loop model in which emissions are reduced, reused, recycled, and removed.

This pivotal event immediately precedes the first of three Energy Sustainability Working Group meetings leading up to the G20 Leader’s Summit this November.

Alex’s presentation focused on the “Regulatory & Policy Frameworks for CCS”.

The second event, the 1st Meeting of the Energy Sustainability Working Group (ESWG), will be held on March 7-8, also in Riyadh.

During this event, Alex will present in the Circular Carbon Economy – Remove session held on March 7, providing delegates with an overview of the ‘Remove’ Element of the Circular Carbon Economy.

Other speakers at the ESWG included representatives from the World Economic Forum, S&P Global Platts, Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry - Japan, the King Abdullah Petroleum Studies and Research Center (KAPSARC), the International Energy Agency (IEA) and the Oil and Gas Climate Initiative (OGCI).
