Oil and gas companies make a splash in Direct Air Capture
12th January 2019
On 9 January 2019, two major oil and gas companies (Occidental Petroleum and Chevron) announced their investment in Carbon Engineering. Carbon Engineering has developed a Direct Air Capture (DAC) with plans to commercialize over the next two years.
Occidental Petroleum announced in November its investment in Net Power. Net Power is developing a power facility that uses CO2 as a working fluid to create electricity. No Carbon Capture is required for the plant as the CO2 is already at pipeline pressure.
