The Institute Attends the First International Indonesia CCS Forum, Signs MoU with Partner Organisations

On 11 and 12 September 2023, the Institute took part in the first International Indonesia CCS Forum 2023 (IICCS Forum 2023), which was held in Jakarta, Indonesia, and signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with partner organisations to accelerate the deployment of CCS.
The Forum, organized by the Indonesia CCS Center (ICCSC), gathered stakeholders across the ASEAN countries to share experiences and knowledge on CCS technologies, best practices, and policies. The event aimed to raise awareness on the role of CCS as an essential climate technology that’s able to deliver significant emissions reductions, and the role Indonesia can play as a future hub of CCS development.
During the IICCS Forum, a MoU drafted by ECADIN (Energy Academy Indonesia), ICCSC (Indonesia CCS Center) and the Institute was signed to enhance future collaboration on a wide range of activities, including CCS capacity building, knowledge sharing and research. The Institute's Branch Representative of Japan, Hiroshi Nambo, attended the signing ceremony together with Dr. Belladonna Maulianda, Director of ICCSC and Dr. Desti Alkano, Founder and CEO of ECADIN.
Following the signing ceremony, the Mr Nambo took part in the plenary session titled 'Carbon Capture and Storage (CCS) Market in ASEAN: Size, Market Share, and Growth Opportunities for Sustainable Development', which explored the growth of CCS opportunities in SEA and Indonesia. During the session, Mr. Nambo unpacked the status of CCS and recent updates related to Japan. Joining the plenary session's discussion, moderated by the ICCSC's Sri H. Rahayu, were also the following CCS experts:

- Leila Faramarzi, CCUS Director of Vallourec
- Iman Rachman, President Director of Bursa Efek Indonesia
- Mark Meldrum, Energy Platform Partner of Systemiq
