Institute welcomes new Members

The Global CCS Institute is pleased to welcome four new members:

  • Calix, LTD – Calix is a technology company based in Australia that has patented a unique process to separate CO2 from cement kiln flue streams.  A pilot project called LEILAC is underway at a Heidelberg Cement plant in Belgium.
  • Enhance Energy – Enhance is a Canadian company that is the operator of the oil field that will take CO2 from the Alberta Carbon Trunk Line (ACTL).  They were instrumental in developing both the pipeline and the capture/compression facilities at the Northwest Refinery and the Nutrien (formerly Agrium) Fertilizer plant.  The pipeline is expected to be operational in late 2019, and is sized to accept additional sources of CO2 in the future.
  • Sumitomo Corporation – Sumitomo is a multinational corporation based in Japan, with a diverse set of businesses, including metal products, transportation, environment/infrastructure, media/ICT, and mineral/chemical/energy resources.  Their energy resources business unit is poised to accelerate deployment of CCS.
  • Minerals Council of Australia – MCA is the leading advocacy organization for the minerals industry in Australia, and a supporter of advancing CCS in Australia.  Their members include Institute Members BHP and Peabody Energy.

This brings the total number of Institute members to 56 worldwide, including governments, energy companies, technology providers, and NGOs.  Information on becoming a Member of the Institute can be found here.
